Conference Program Free Fair

Friday Free Public Fair and more

During the free public Fair on Friday 24 May, there will be five free talks in the morning and three paid sessions in the afternoon. Details of speakers and topics for these talks are also on the website. Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit the many Exhibitor Stalls – we’re expecting at least 35 stalls so plenty of people to meet, places to visit and information to be shared.

If you haven’t already booked your accommodation, check the website for the options available.

Welcome Function

Friday Welcome Function

The Welcome Function on Friday evening will be our first opportunity to greet delegates to the Conference and we are planning to showcase some of the fabulous produce we have on the Sunshine Coast.

The National Archives of Australia is co-sponsoring the event with Boolarong Press which is arranging the launch of a new Queensland book. The cost of this function is included in the full registration fee for delegates. Partners and exhibitors are welcome to attend for a small charge of $20 per person.

Lunch Catering

Please note that there are no cafés near VENUE 114, so those attending on Friday will need to either bring lunch from home or buy a Lunch Pack for $15. Morning and afternoon tea and lunch on Saturday and morning tea on Sunday is included for delegates. Exhibitors and other visitors to the Fair on Saturday and/or Sunday will need to bring a lunch from home or buy a Lunch Pack. There are some lakeside benches where you can wander and enjoy some time out during the breaks.

Venue Details

As you might have noticed, the venue is just across the lake from the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel/Aquarius Apartments. We’ve suggested to Council that they build a bridge across the lake, or put in a ferry, but they didn’t take us seriously! So, you will need to do the 4-5-minute drive around the lake. If you prefer to walk, it will take about 30 minutes. Or Genimates can share rides between the Best Western Hotel, Aquarius Apartment and the conference venue location.

Extra Conference Parking Organised

Parking at the venue will be a bit of a problem on the Saturday as there is a market directly opposite VENUE 114. It starts at 6am so most of the street parking will be taken by the time we get there. Car-pooling will be a good plan and we will have a shuttle bus to/from the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel / Aquarius Apartments to transport delegates to the venue and home again at the end of the day. More details closer to the start of the conference.
